حول احمد اتجاه معصمه ، كان قد وقف فاتحا رجليه وبدأ يهز المضرب الطويل في حركة موازية لحركة المؤخرة ، بدا أن عينيه تتنقل ما بين الكرة البيضاء المثبته فوق قمع معدنى صغير على النجيل الاخضر وبين فراغ المسافة الواسعه امامه ، ولكنه في جزء اخير من الثانية الاخيرة غير وضع معصمه، ليفاجأ الحاضرون بالغزالة التى انطلقت من بين الاشجار وهى تجرى بعرض ملعب الجولف ، قبل ان تلتف سيقانها على بعض وتسقط مقتلعة بعض النجيل وهى تحتضر و ترفس بأقدامها نحو السماء في تباطؤ متزايد.
هذا هو احمد عبد الشهيد، حدة بصره هذه وراءها محرك من التيقظ وسرعة رد الفعل ، رغم ما يغلفه من مسحة هدوء تغلف حتى مشيته الايقاعية الهادئة و الواثقة ، اسمر ، صعيدى ، طويل ، حاد الانف والفكين ، وعظام تبرز من كتفية ور كبتية بوضوح ، ورغم نحافته الا ان هيكله العريض يجعله يبدو كعملاق ضخم .
